ANOTHER LIFE

I’ve been talkin’ about a special lady
The slightly older sister to my childhood friend
I met her on a day trip down to Baltimore
Was the beginning of the end
I took a look at my life; something just wasn’t right
Somebody’s in a hurry, somebody’s taking their time
Frustrated ‘cause their sights are strayin’
Tryin’ to wait for love to arrive
She just can’t wait for my dream come true
It’s a kind of change that we’re just not suited for
And I know she’ll make someone a beautiful wife
We’ll just have to save it for another life.
So I tried to tell myself that it’s not so hard
A thousand miles can’t be that far
But only the wanted ever want to be free
Sometimes it’s she, sometimes it’s me
 Somebody’s found somebody
Somebody’s pride is on the line
But there’s just too much distance, so far between us
Can’t taste the fruit through the rind
I took a good look at my life
She could not come for the ride
No use waiting, my Baltimore’s taken
Heart could not take what my pride would not shake
When I felt like she was the one
But you cannot walk away from the road that you run to
‘Cause life’s full of pages with no chance to erase
The choices that we make so don’t try to fake it
I called her up to see if we could be friends
She would not have it any other way
Maybe we were meant to be in another life
It might have happened to or three lives before
